From its use during wartimes, to shaping its functionality, espadrilles have become prime material for luxury brands. But what would it be of the espadrille without Picasso or Salvador Dalí? These two artists made a mark in the history of Spanish footwear, they painted with them, travel with them and showed themselves in public with their espadrilles. In consecuense the relationship between art and the espadrille was stronger than ever and it even reached the top in the Hollywood industry thanks to wonderful artists like Grace Kelly and Jane Birkin.
